There is a ban in Australia with the mining of peanut wood and only allows ethical collecting. Which makes this gorgeous fossil sphere extremely rare. Peanut Wood started life out over 112 million years ago as a Conifer tree in Western Australia. Parts of those trees were washed into the seas as driftwood and bored into and eaten by Teredo clams(shipworms) Over millions of years the bore holes were filled with White cream colored minerals and fossilized to give the peanut appearance. To see this material on the market large enough to make display spheres is very, very rare. Awesome addition to any sphere collection.
