This rare African crystal sphere was once thought to contain Emeralds in Matrix. Lab testing showed that the green mineral is not true Emerald since it does not contain Beryl. Instead, it is a newly identified Chromium-rich member of the Mica family, now known as Emerald Mica or Chrome Muscovite.
Even though it is not a traditional Emerald, the stone still shows deep green color and striking matrix patterns. Each piece is hand carved and polished by artisans in Mutoko, Zimbabwe, giving it a soft, leather-like finish that feels smooth in the hand. Every sphere is one of a kind and supplies are extremely limited.
